- Apr 14, 11How to use your Midori Traveler's Notebook BinderThe concept behind a notebook is to write down all kinds of notes (albeit your brainstorms/dreams about that little cafe you want to open some day, or just some errands that need to be done, a phonenumber you should call later or the adress of the meeting you will be attending). Such notes need to be remembered. The length of time of this particular need varies on the kind of note. Some notes may be forgotten swiftly, some may never.Midori Traveler's Notebook Binder is designed for this need to remember what you wrote down earlier. And may I say, well executed as well.This binder will keep up to five of the Midori Traveler's Notebook paper refills. It is like a win-win situation; having your notes stored in a efficient way plus the binder is just really pretty with its kraft carton shell.When opening the Binder you will find 5 metal rods (hence storing up to 5 refills). With a little pulling, you can get these rods out one by one.As with your Midori Traveler's Notebook , open your refill in the middle of the notebook and place the rod on it.Then, place the refill plus rod like on the picture above and squeeze that rod back into place.Easy does it.
- Dec 07, 10How to use your Midori Traveler's Notebook regular sizeA Midori Traveler's Notebook comes in a standard pack. This pack contains a leather cover (in black or brown leather), a cotton dustbag, a plain paper refill (003 Plain refill), a spare rubber band and is packed in a beautiful kraft paper box.Midori Traveler's Notebook has a signature roughly hand cut leather cover. The paper refill are replaceable with new ones. Various kinds of paper refills exists, ranging from the standard Lined, Grid and Plain papers (refills numbers 001, 002 and 003), to a travel diary for two months (refill number 005).Special drawing papers are also available. For example a sketch book with thicker pages, a light weight paper refill with thinner and more pages (128 instead of the usual 64) or a kraft paper refill (refill number 012, 013 and 014).These refills are also perfect notebooks on itself, without the leather cover.Besides replacing your paper refill in your Midori Traveler's Notebook, it is also possible to add more paper refills.With a first method, the second notebook is placed on top of the first one.In this way they 'share' on elastic band that keeps them connected to your notebook, see the picture below.The second method is to use the backside of the rubberband that is keeping the standard paper refill in place.With a bit of a stretch the rubberband, you can easily fit in a second paper refill. This way, the two notebooks are kept next to each other, instead of on top of each other.The plastic inserts, like our favorite no 008 Zipperfile, 007 Cardfile and the 004 or 006 Pocket stickers, enable you to carry all you need in an organized and efficient way.The Pocket Stickers are (small) pockets that can be attached inside of your leather cover.The Pocket Stickers are an easy and handy solution for papers and notes you carry around. You can even slip in a smaller/thinner notebook or notepad behind it.The 004 Pocket Stickers contains three smaller pockets, of which one for holding your business cards.The 007 Cardfile and 008 Zipperfile can be easily inserted by sliding them next to the paper refill.

To be held in Hong Kong, the birthplace of the TRAVELER'S STAR EDITION collaboration to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the passport size, you can now collect an original stamp in your notebook. Collect the stamps at City'Super/LOG-ON and at QIPS and submit your application. 10 lucky applicants will receive original Masking Tapes from the TRAVELER'S FACTORY, the flagship of TRAVELER'S notebook, located in Nakameguro, Tokyo.

How to apply
Press two campaign stamps on the application form, one at a city'super and the other at a QIPS, and leave it in a campaign application box. No application is valid if it has two stamps from the same store.

After having made its international mark, men's style magazine CODE goes back to its roots and launches its first Dutch edition on March 22nd.
In conjunction with the launch of the Dutch edition, CODE curates a Pop-Up store in Amsterdam department store Maison de Bonnetrie, starting March 22nd and lasting two weeks. Midori TRAVELER'S notebook is amongst one of the brands included in the curated lists of CODE.
According to New York Magazine, CODE is considered as one of the best independent magazines in the world. CODE pays tribute to 'men with a story' and its styling evolves about the portrayal of those individuals and their message, where the clothes are made by that man, instead of the other way around.

In light of the previous Customize! theme supporting the 5th year Anniversary of the regular size TRAVELER'S notebook in 2011, Midori will lanuch a entire accesories series to accompany this years STAR EDITION TRAVELER'S notebook.
The Limited leather cover in camel has a stamped logo in commemoration of this editions collaboration with the "STAR" ferry in Hong Kong. The notebook will hold the history of this Ferry and includes a route map as well as an actual coupon for the Star Ferry that still runs in Hong Kong between Kowloon Peninsula and Victoria Harbour.
The range will hold two charms. The Brass Plate is perfect to tie around the (horizontal) elastic band, whereas the Life Buoy is perfect to attach to the cotton cord that can be used as a page marker in your TRAVELER'S notebook.
The Brass Plate charm has the name of the STAR Ferry and the TRAVELER'S STAR engraved on it.
The Life Buoy is a characteristic life buoy made of tin, of the same material as the tin clasp.
The set of BRASS Clips contains 4 clips, the largest being the Star Ferry boat. The other three are similar to the Midori BRASS Numbered Clips, with a life buoy, star and anchor instead of numbers.
The Limited BRASS Ballpen is made with a green painted body. This color is the main and famed color of the STAR ferry boats. The STAR EDITION Ballpen also features vintage logo's of the TSAR Ferry and the "TRAVELER'S STAR". Similar to the white or brown painted BRASS writingtools, when the green painted surface will scratch, its surface texture will change and the underlying brass body will become more and more apparent.
The success piece of the previous limited edition series was the stamp and this STAR EDITION stamp consists of a green wooden handle, reminiscent of the interior and exterior of a STAR ferry boat.
The eleven stickers in the TRAVELER'S STAR Edition package have a nice vintage style.
New additions to Midori TRAVELER'S notebook range are Kamoi's Masking Tape in the TRAVELER'S STAR EDITION feeling.
The Masking Tape <S> features the TRAVELER'S STAR cruising the Victoria Harbour.
The Masking Tape <M> is similar to the original design of STAR ferry tickets.

For its 5th year anniversary of Midori TRAVELER'S notebook Passport Size, Midori collaborates with the "Star" Ferry Company, Limited in Hong Kong and launches a camel coloured TRAVELER'S STAR EDITION.
The Star Ferry is a ferry service in Hong Kong that operates crossings between Kowloon Peninsula and Hong Kong Island at Victoria Harbour.
The limited passport size TRAVELER'S notebook is in a camel colour with a green elastic band. For Midori fans; its the same leather combination as the 5th year anniversary of the regular size 2 years ago. This STAR EDITION has the logo of the collaboration with the "STAR" ferry embossed and comes with a special paper refill that covers the history of this Hong Kong based ferry company. For those keen on traveling; it includes a route map and a coupon for the "Star" ferry, which will expire December 31th, 2013.
In addition to the passport size Midori, the STAR EDITION will boast a capsule collection of items, reminiscent of the Customize!-theme Midori issued when launching the 5th year anniversary of the regular size counterpart two years ago. Plan a city trip to Paris from June 22nd to August 14th as TRAVELER'S notebook will host an event at merci.
After the opening of the TRAVELER'S factory in Naka Meguro Tokyo in Octobre 2011, and the previous two TRAVELER'S notebook user events in South Korea and Hong Kong, it was about time a TRAVELER'S notebook event is held for its European users.
That being said, we applaud that merci is hosting the users event of European soil. From June 22nd to August 14th merci will dedicate a special section of its premises to Midori TRAVELER'S notebook & company.

Midori recently opened their first Traveler's Factory; a place where fans and users can meet, exchange experiences, thoughts, ideas and travel-tips and where users and Traveler's Factory staff together create new ideas for limited items.

Midori's 5th year anniversary theme is Customize!
With this theme Midori wishes to promote selfexpression through personalizing the exterior of the Traveler's Notebook.
Therefore their 5th year anniversary limited edition (in a beautiful tone of camel) is accompanied with a full range of wonderful and exciting products that wil surely help you personalizing your notebook.
Midori's design team made a beautiful range of vintage looking stickers. These stickers really give this traveler's edge on your notebook. Stick them on the cover of your paper refills, giving each refill a distinctive attitude.
Study the Hotel A en B sticker packs and discover whether your hometown has its own sticker dipped in a vintage look. Amsterdam does! (Hotel B pack)Their other stickers are the Transit pack, consisting of stickers with a flight and airport theme.
Finally, their other two packs are Labels (have you ever seen nicer labels than this?) and Stamps in various kinds.
You can also decorate the elastic band. The bead pack provides you with a range of different coloured elastic bands plus metal and wooden beads you can string on your band. You can also string them on the cord on the inside of your notebook.

In Japan the Crane bird represents longevity, hope, happiness and contentment (of satisfaction). Traditionally they will fold a thousand Crane birds in times of illness or other misfortune. During the process all of the folder's postive energy will be sent to whomever needs it.
Brigitta, of Miscellaneous, was in Tokyo at the time of the first earthquake on March 11th 2011: "I was in a train near Yokohama at the time of the first quake. At first I did not realize the shaking was a earthquake. Only when I stepped out of the vehicle it hit me. However I only learned about the severity of the earthquake many hours later." The passport size Midori Traveler's Notebook is hitting stores in the Benelux as we speak. For now, you can get the passport size model at Frozen Fountain, Tenue de Nimes and de Vlieger in Amsterdam. This post is exists of three components; introduction of Midori Traveler's Notebook and Miscellaneous, comparison of Midori Traveler's Notebook with other notebooks and, finally, his verdict.In the first picture posted above, he compared the Midori Traveler's Notebook with a small booklet he used from 1987 to 1990 for ideas, address and phonenumbers.In the second picture he compared the Midori Traveler's Notebook with the Filofax he used in 1997-2000. He especially focuses on the compartments of the Filofax and compared it against the Midori Traveler's Notebook 007 Cardfile.He concludes that Midori Traveler's Notebook is a versatile and practical notebook, due to all its possibilities refill-wise. He applauds the archive-system of the concept: a kraft binder to store up to 5 paper refills (more info here). He favors our notebook above the one he currently is using in respect to look en feel.Although Midori Traveler's Notebook 'outperforms' all other notebooks in his comparison on versatile reasons, he will first use all his dvee-notebooks he has bought in bulk before.
